Boswellia papyrifera resin, hand-sorted into grades by tear size and colour. This is the species behind most Ethiopian frankincense in trade, and its profile is markedly brighter, greener and more turpenic than Boswellia carterii.

Supplied as whole tears for direct burning and for distillation feedstock. Grade nomenclature in this category is a commercial sorting convention rather than an analytical standard, so it describes appearance — size, colour, freedom from bark — rather than composition.

B. papyrifera populations face documented pressure from land-use change, fire and harvesting intensity. Regeneration in tapped stands is an active area of concern in the published literature, and it forms part of how we assess supply from this origin.
